“The Full Monte!” A Comprehensive List of Nude Beaches in Greece
The hot Greek sun feels so wonderful that it almost encourages 360 degrees of body tanning. So, whether you’re a practiced all-over tanner, boldly taking on a dare to bare, or even a modest first-timer Greece has a number of nude beaches, catering to varying tastes and types (naturist, family, gay, couples, mixed).
Athens itself isn’t host to well-traveled nude beaches, but many other areas and Greek Islands certainly are. Crete, specifically, is also home to the sole “official” nudist resort, the deluxe Hotel Vritomartis at Filaki Beach.
Among the most well-known and friendly is a hybrid, Plakias Beach (southwest Crete).
Plakais Beach is popular for snorkeling and located in a picture -perfect setting of cliffs, mountains, and a golden sand beach. Showers, refreshments, and umbrellas are available. The nude area is both the last and most popular section of the beach.
Without further ado, let’s get onto the list . . . .

Most islands in Greece have their share of nude beaches. So whether you are on Crete, Santorini, or Cephalonia you can visit nude beaches and enjoy the sublime beauty of nature getting one with it by shedding of all traces of artifice be it polyester, denim, cotton, or maybe even Lycra.
You can choose from naturist, family, gay, and mixed beaches. Before you shed off your clothes and rush to meet the water all stark naked, do a quick visual check and see if there are people wearing clothes as some beaches carry an official “nude” status one year and are “textile friendly” the next. There are many small, quiet islands that are tucked away from the regular tourist beats; these islands also have designated nude beaches.
Summers in Greece can be warm and if you are planning to visit nudist beaches in Greece then carry a good supply of sunscreen. Wear clothing that is easy to slip into and out of. In case you decide to carry a camera, point it only at yourself, your partner, or inanimate objects. Intrusive photography is discouraged at nudist beaches.
