Visit: Syntagma Square, Athens Greece

Syntagma Square or Constitution Square is located in central Athens. Today the Square is a pleasant place to sit and people-watch or enjoying the ceremony of the changing of the guard that takes place at the end of every hour. In times gone by the Square has been the site of various political rallies and even gun battles.
Because of its association with the Greek struggle for freedom, first from the Nazis and then from its own allies, Syntagma Square has a special significance for Greeks and Athenians.
Syntagma Square can be reached easily from anywhere in Athens. It is a public transportation hub for the metro, trolley-buses, and trams. The Municipality of Athens offers free wireless internet in the Square. The Greek parliament building is to the east of the Square. To the north and south of the Square one finds rows of large shade trees, while at the center of the Square is a large water fountain offering refuge to birds and tired Athenians.
Syntagma Square is an ideal starting point for sight-seeing expeditions in Athens. Plaka, Monastiraki, Psiri and other popular neighborhoods are close by. Sites such as the Areopagus, the Agora, Hadrian’s Library, the Tower of the Winds and many more can easily be accessed from the Square.
The Syntagma Square was claimed from the gardens and lawns that were once a part of the King’s palace. Today the palace is the Parliament Building.

When children understand how important “real food” is and where the natural ingredients of our food come from, they will increase the general population’s appreciation for preserving our natural environment and limiting toxins and polluting processes in our world. We may even trend back to the time when people stepped outside their homes to interact with family and neighbors in home and community gardens and block-party barbeques. Does anybody even remember how nice those days were?
